Trymlet

A larger and more vigorous seedling than its parent ‘Trym’, it has a lovely pagoda shaped flare to the outer segments but not as reflexed as the original ‘Trym’ - one of its parents. Selected by Kathleen Beddington of Rippingdale, Lincolnshire in 1995, the name was coined by Sue & Wol Staines - hybridizers of many a fine modern galanthus hybrids. It was a deliberate cross between G. ‘Trym’ being the pod parent with pollen gathered from G. ‘Sally Ann’ - a single hybrid with rounded outers. It is unsure whether this was a successful hybrid but sometimes what you get is unexpected as in this case. It is a good performer in my garden and is quite distinct from other Trym-like hybrids, sporting larger flowers more visible from a distance.
