From her garden at South Hayes, Oxford this eponymous snowdrop is a reliable, vigorous yellow hybrid and does well in the woodland as well as in the open garden. It has a reliably yellow ovary as well as yellow inner segment markings. The yellow color intensifies with more sun, but mine is reliably yellow in the woodland, as well. It was posthumously named in 1997 by John Grimshaw for the famed Galanthophile (1920 - 1996) Visitors to her garden remember seeing this yellow snowdrop since 1989 which Primrose herself called it “Yellow Top”, but it was yet unnamed. These are from Audrey Vockins who first propagated it upon its first distribution.
Alan Street once told me while visiting her garden, she seriously admonished him “Step on that again and you’ll not be invited back!”
